1838 Military Commission Granted to Clayton Samuel Hext Hingston to be Ensign in 3rd West India Regiment from 28 June 1838, signed by (Lord) Normanby. He was Secretary of State for the Colonies from 1839 & he approved the annexation of New Zealand to Britain. Originally purchased in 2012 for £125. Very early Victoriana.
1914-18 Very rare original Army recruiting poster 'ANSWER THE CALL RIGHT QUICKLY'. 145mm X 790mm. Long narrow poster divided into flags of Allied countries. Printed in colour by 'Chorley & Pickersgill Ltd'. Poster No: 64A, published by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee London. Has a couple of tears along old fold marks (one section detached) & a piece torn out of top R/H corner. Fair condition but would frame well. Original WWI recruiting posters are RARE.
1914-18 Rare Great War Royal Flying Corps leather flying helmet made by ' LE DUX'. Classic 4 panel crown with peak & neck flap, ear projectors that can be rolled as wind deflectors or worn closed. Goggle retaining straps. Solid but well worn condition. Leather has faded to light brown & sueded in some areas. Neck flap has some nicks. No chin strap, favoured by RFC, AFC & RNAS pilots & crew. Rare helmet from Great War, very displayable. Average condition. (P)

WWI Commemorative Whiskey Jug. Bust of Lord Kitchener & an oval supported by flags, soldiers & sailors. The opposite side is a WWI airplane & fighting ship. The cork stopper is a soldier's helmet (cork repaired). Copeland Spode by James Green & nephew, 250mm high. VGC. (P)
