WWII Covers 1941 from WJ Chung, a member of 'Gull Force' that defended Ambon in Neth Indies with 1941 (2) to his wife in Melbourne -1 stampless with 'Postage Correct' h/s, other franked KGVI 3d & Kookaburra 6d tied by 'Field PO 070' cds, both censored. Plus 1942 cover to him franked Platypus 9d & returned, with boxed 'Army Postal Service Delivery Impracticable' & red RTS 'finger', censored with DLO b/s & return label. (3)

1869 cover sent by officer (or civilian official) onboard HMS Victoria, which was at the time doing survey work off the east Australian coast, dated "2/9/69" by sender & franked GB QV 6d (2) cancelled in transit by "A86" mailboat cancel used by GPO clerks aboard P&O ships coming from the Far East, reverse with crest & "HMS Victoria" (roughly opened -backflap mostly gone), sent to USA with "London 6 DE 69" transit b/s, & with weak US arrival cds on front. With extensive research notes showing that ship was somewhere in the Port Philip area or in Bass Strait at the time, & cover would have gone from Sydney, then Melbourne, then by P&O "Malta" to Galle, P&O "Candia" Galle-Suez, overland to Alex- andria, & by P&O "Pera" to Southampton, then by Cunard "Tripoli" Queenstown-Boston. Extremely rare British mail boat cover from Australia! (P)
